Billing

Table of Contents

Open the Billing tab. Only an administrator can use it.

For current prices, see the pricing page of the Taiwa website.

Taiwa bills in pounds (GBP), euros (EUR) or US dollars (USD). Taiwa sets the currency when it opens your organisation, and the Billing tab shows every amount in that currency. Prices are before tax. To change the currency, contact Taiwa support before your first monthly charge.

Who charges what

  • Your translation provider charges you for the translation itself, on your own contract with that provider. For example, DeepL bills you for the calls that it translates.
  • Taiwa charges the platform fee.

The platform fee

The Platform fee card

The platform fee is a fixed amount for each active user in a month, with a monthly minimum.

  • An active user is a person who translated something in that month: a call or a message.
  • Below a certain number of active users, you pay the minimum. The card gives that number.

The card shows the count and the amount so far in the current month. The month is still running, so that figure can only go up. It is what today's count would cost, and it is not a forecast. The card also shows the last month and if it was charged.

Add or change your card

If no payment method is on file, the card says so. Select Add a card. A secure page of Stripe opens. Enter your card and your billing address. If you buy as a business, tick the box for a business purchase and enter your business name and your VAT number. Stripe uses the address and the VAT number to put the correct tax on your invoices.

To update your card, download invoices or cancel, select Open billing portal under Manage billing. The billing portal is a secure page of Stripe, Taiwa's payment provider.

VAT

Taiwa's prices are before VAT. Each invoice shows the VAT as a separate line.

  • In the United Kingdom: you pay UK VAT.
  • In the European Union, with a VAT number: you pay no VAT to Taiwa. The reverse charge applies, and your business accounts for the VAT.
  • In the European Union, with no VAT number: you pay the VAT of your country.

Enter your VAT number when you add your card. To add it or change it later, open the billing portal.

Premium Support

Premium Support gives you a faster answer when translation is down, and help with translation quality and the customer experience. The Taiwa website says what Premium Support covers.

  • It has a monthly price on a committed term. The card shows the price and the length of the term.
  • To add it, tick the box that confirms the commitment, and select Add Premium Support. You need a card on file first. It is charged with your platform fee.
  • After the term, it continues month by month until you cancel.
  • If you cancel during the term, Premium Support ends on the last day of the term, and you pay each month until then.

If a payment fails

The page shows the number of failed payment attempts. If Taiwa cannot take payment, the organisation is suspended and translation pauses. Update your card in the billing portal to restore it.
